How can localized manuals keep text and figures aligned?

Manuals require checks across text, images, callouts and the operating sequence. Terminology is only the start: figure numbers, steps, models and safety notices must correspond to the correct revision.

Organize sources around the product

Provide manuals, parts lists, drawings and reference screenshots, identifying models and configurations. Similar models can differ in appearance or function, so shared templates do not justify reusing every description. Include text inside figures in the scope.

Include layout in the deliverables

Text expansion can affect tables, warning boxes and pagination. Agree the software, fonts, editable sources and final format, then check captions, indexes, cross-references and missing text after layout.

Target the revision changes

For a new model or software release, provide a change list. Focus on affected specifications, procedures, screenshots and warnings, then confirm the product and revision coverage stated in the delivered files.

A checklist for your brief

  • Model, configuration and revision
  • Drawings and editable layout files
  • Safety terminology and acceptance checklist

A common question

Can the text be translated without a layout review?

Text-only delivery can be agreed, but it does not mean the final manual is release-ready. Assign responsibility for checks after import and layout.
